Aired: November 20, 2000

Episode Synopsis:
Duplicates of the royal four (Isabel, Michael, Tess and Max) are living in New York City and appear to be a more evil version of the Roswell group. They murder their own king, named Zan, and head off to Roswell. They intend to recruit Max to act as their king at a summit with other alien leaders.

The New York aliens are more streetwise and ruthless. They also seem to know more about their home planet and what occurred before they were sent to earth. Max is suspicious of what could happen at the summit meeting but as usual Michael and Isabel don't want to pass up the opportunity to learn more.

On the romance front, Michael begins to take Maria for granted and Brody develops an attraction to her.

Episode 33 - To Serve And Protect
Aired: January 22, 2001

Episode Synopsis:
A bored Isabel decides to continue hopping around people's dreams for a little excitement. Her nocturnal voyerisms reveal Liz is still fixated on Max, and Kyle thinks he will turn into an alien because Max "changed him" by saving his life. But Isabel is surprised when she is pulled into a dream she didn't choose to infiltrate: a teenage girl getting dragged, screaming, in a body bag through the woods.

Max and Isabel turn to Sheriff Valenti for help, fearing that it wasn't just a dream, but Valenti has problems of his own. An old friend from the state police is back, sniffing around about the death of Hubble, the alien hunter, and the sheriff's relationship with the Evans kids. While Kyle quizzes Tess on alien habits (and she can't resist teasing him about his fears), Isabel finally goes on a date with Grant. She falls asleep during the movie and has another "dream." Max and Isabel ask for Valenti's help once again and the sheriff sets out to find the missing girl.

When Isabel dreams it was Grant dragging the kidnapped girl through the woods Valenti goes on a manhunt to nab him. Too bad they not only got the girl's identity wrong (she shows up and wonders why they thought she was missing) but Valenti illegally searches Grant's tent and equipment. It's looking like one big hoax as the sheriff's old friend seems intent on bringing him down - the "missing" girl's family wants to sue, Grant is suing and a judge threatens to throw Valenti in jail.

Isabel has another dream and this time, she knows where the girl is being hidden. Max, Isabel and Sheriff Valenti head out to the woods and quickly discover her buried, her head covered in glass with an air tube attached to feed her oxygen. As they are digging her out the kidnapper is waiting. He shoots but Max throws up a shield to block the bullets as Valenti and Isabel free the girl. As Max lets the shield down Valenti shoots at the villain but he escapes. Just then, the sheriff's old friend arrives to ask just what the heck is going on. Valenti continues to cover for Max and Isabel, but the suspicion is there. When Isabel takes the kidnapped girl's hand she sees a flash of alien/hybrid cells. A new mystery begins.

Episode 34 - We Are Family
Aired: January 29, 2001

Episode Synopsis:
Sheriff Valenti is suspended from the force because of his actions in the case of the kidnapped girl, Laurie DuPree. At the local hospital where Laurie is recovering, Michael and Tess find out that the girl is human. When the pair sneak into Laurie's room, she's gone. Meanwhile, FBI Agent Suzanne Duff visits Sheriff Valenti's house asking for help to find Laurie. We find out that Laurie has been in a psychiatric hospital undergoing treatment for schizophrenia.

Michael pages the Sheriff to meet him at the kidnapping crime scene, where he has found an alien blue blob. The sheriff takes it. When the sheriff returns home, he finds Laurie hiding in his closet. She tells the sheriff her kidnapper was not a man, but "them...they're not from here." Just then Agent Duff calls for the sheriff to return to the office.

Max and Liz talk at the Crashdown. He's worried about Liz because of the dangerous recent events. Max hangs around until closing, when Sean comes by for a snack, but Liz won't let him in. Later, Liz, Alex, Maria and Isabel gather on Liz's rooftop patio to see Alex's slides from his month long trip to Sweden. He shares all his experiences, as Liz wistfully listens. The sheriff calls Isabel at Liz's. Isabel leaves to stay with Laurie while the sheriff returns to the office. Meanwhile, Sean shows up downstairs again, and asks Liz for a date. She declines, telling Sean she's "semi-involved with Max as a friend-plus."

Back at the sheriff's house, a very disturbed Laurie tells Isabel about her captors and the injections. Max and Michael arrive. Laurie freaks when she sees Michael saying "Stay away from me--you're dead," and she escapes through the window. Michael chases after her, while Isabel calls Sheriff Valenti. While running, Laurie gets hit by a car just as the police, FBI, and Sheriff Valenti arrive. Laurie tells FBI Agent Duff that the sheriff "said he'd protect me. The aliens were at his house."

Max asks Kyle to take the alien blue blob from the sheriff's office, to protect his dad and prevent its discovery by the FBI.

The city council fires Sheriff Valenti. All the kids are gathered at the Crashdown, feeling terrible that the sheriff lost his job. Kyle gives the alien blue blob to Max and confronts Max and the group to stay away from his family, but Max can't promise he will.

Tess tells Kyle she's packed her things since she's overstayed her welcome. Kyle tells her not to leave...that she's part of the family. She tells him he's her favorite human. He tells Tess she's his favorite Martian.

In the last scene, Michael and Isabel go to the psychiatric hospital where Laurie was treated. While snooping around, they find some of her personal belongings. Among them is a black & white photo of Michael dated 1935 and labeled "Grandpa."

Episode 35 - Disturbing Behavior
Aired: February 5th, 2001

Episode Synopsis:
FBI Agent Suzanne Duff questions Laurie DuPree at the Sheriff's office, as Maria and Michael watch from across the street. During the questioning, Laurie freaks and is subdued by deputies. The paramedics take her away in the rescue, strapped down. Laurie frees herself from the straps. During a struggle with the medics, there is an accident, and the rescue rolls down a hill.

Maria and Michael, who were following, free Laurie from the ambulance and escape with her as the kidnapper/sniper shoots at them on the scene. Michael, Maria, and Laurie flee town, while a statewide hunt begins for Laurie. When they stop at a roadside cafe, Laurie escapes them, but not for long. As they find her walking on the road, Michael tries to gain her trust, pledging his loyalty. Laurie tells Michael her grandpa is in Tucson.

Back in Roswell, Isabel and Max are trying to figure out if the blue blob can give them any clues. FBI Agent Duff questions Isabel about Laurie, but learns nothing. Maria's mom has Sean bring Liz to their home to ask about Maria's whereabouts. Liz tells Ms. DeLuca that Maria is with Michael, and Ms. DeLuca, thinking her daughter is out for a wild weekend, takes Liz's cellphone, waiting for Maria to call. When Maria does call, Ms. DeLuca talks to Michael, warning him to take care of her daughter.

As Max sleeps at his desk, the blue blob moves, covering his hand. When it moves off his hand, it forms into a crystalline glowing blue rock. He goes to get Liz, the science whiz, for help.

Valenti finds Grant Sorenson in the woods. Sorenson lunges at him, as if possessed. When Valenti gets him to the ground, Grant snaps out of it, recognizing the former Sheriff. Later, after Valenti's repeated warnings about Sorenson, FBI Agent Duff links Sorenson to all the items found at Laurie's kidnapping scene, by comparing his whereabouts to items that were listed as stolen.

Liz theorizes that the blue crystalline rock is some sort of parasite. She enlists Isable's help to find out about Frazier Woods from Sorenson.

Michael and Maria take Laurie to the Tucson estate of her grandpa. Her aunt and uncle are shocked at the resemblance of Michael to their father, thinking he may be an illegitimate son. They remind Laurie that her grandpa died seven years earlier. While Laurie is secluded upstairs, Uncle DuPree pays off Michael with $50,000 so he doesn't claim inheritance, and throws Michael and Maria out.

Liz, Max and Isabel deduce that alien parasites are living in the water in Frazier Woods, near their original crash site. The theory is confirmed as Isabel makes a psychic connection to an otherworldly ally by channeling through Brody. The message tells them that earth's ecosystem has been infected by dangerous parasites, and they must leave the planet immediately.

Episode 36 - How the Other Half Lives
Aired: February 19th, 2001

Episode Synopsis:
The conclusion of a four-episode story in which the aliens find out about their human origins.

The masked man (Sorenson) searches Michael's apartment in Roswell, taking a photo of Laurie. Afterwards, FBI Agent Duff and Sheriff Valenti delay Sorenson, questioning him about his whereabouts the last few months, and the scratches on his neck, which he can't explain.

Brody, embodying the otherworldly ally "Lorek," comes to the Crashdown to tell Liz, Isabel, Tess and Max the alien crystals infect certain humans with a chromosomal flaw. The queen parasite of the Ghandarium colony is the only one that can infect. Once infected, the parasite spreads like the plague, killing all humans in contact with the first one infected.

Meanwhile, back in Tucson, Michael and Maria are staking out the DuPree estate. They get back into the house, and Laurie tells them her aunt and uncle need her "to be crazy." After being thrown off the premises again, Michael and Maria search public recrods, finding out that the DuPree estate was left in Laurie's name by her Grandfather. Maria confronts Laurie's aunt about ownership of the estate. Laurie tells Michael about her grandfather, taking him downstairs into the estate's bomb shelter to see her grandfather's possessions. Her grandfather was "taken" by aliens. Laurie explains her recessive genetic chromosomal defect, a trait that she shares with her grandfather.

The gang back in Roswell start digging in Frazier Woods. Kyle and Alex find the Ghandarium parasite colony. As they descend into the hole, the opening closes up with crystals, trapping them below. Isabel, Max and Tess are powerless to break through the crystals. To aid in freeing Kyle and Alex, Isabel volunteers to go to the UFO Center to retrieve Brody's tools. While trapped, Kyle and Alex discover the crystals can't live without oxygen.

Grant Sorenson overcomes Isabel at the UFO Center, kidnapping her. As they drive in his truck, he asks for Isabel's help. She realizes he is being controlled. as he tells her they are going to Tucson, but he doesn't know why. Isabel knows then that Grant is infected by the queen of the Ghandarium colony, Grant says he is supposed to kill Isabel, but can't, and leaves her on the side of the road. Isabel calls Sheriff Valenti to warn her that Grant is headed to Tucson. Sheriff Valenti enlists FBI Agent Duff's help.

Back at the DuPree mansion, Michael finds the maid strangled. He sends Maria and Laurie to the safety of the underground bomb shelter. As Michael searches the house, he is shot by Grant. Just then Sheriff Valenti and FBI Agent Duff arrive. Grant has found the girls in the bomb shelter, and holds a gun to Laurie's head. Sheriff Valenti talks him out of the gun. He points the gun at the sheriff, and FBI Agent Duff shoots Grant. As he lies dying, alien crystals explode from Grant's chest, and the queen alien of the colony propels out from inside him. As all run outside the door, Michael uses his powers to pull all the oxygen from the bomb shelter. The queen alien goes into a frenzy and dies.

Back in Roswell, the crystals in the ground begin to melt, dying. Kyle and Alex free themselves, commenting they have "saved the world."

Back in the bomb shelter, Isabel returns to sit with Grant's body.

Sheriff Valenti and FBI Agent Duff talk about the incident that "never happened."

All is resolved as Michael and Maria get a lawyer to help Laurie regain her estate from her aunt and uncle.

Episode 37 - Viva Las Vegas
Aired: February 26th, 2001

Episode Synopsis:
Michael hatches a plan to take a wild, spur-of-the-moment road trip to Las Vegas to spend the corrupted DuPree money. The gang all hears about it, and soon all are eager to join the road trip of fun and debauchery. Maria begs Liz to go, but Liz is apprehensive, knowing that she and "future Max" were married in Las Vegas. As they are leaving, Liz shows up, deciding not to miss the fun.

When they arrive via limousine at the swanky Presidential Suite of their Las Vegas hotel, Michael gives each $3000 and transforms their IDs into fakes with legal ages and new aliases.

At the casino, while Kyle is winning, Alex loses $3000 in one hand of blackjack. Michael heats up the craps table. Liz and Tess can't even get into the casino, 'cause security suspects their IDs to be fakes.

Maria tries out for what she thinks is her dream singing opportunity, only to find out that the audition is for a job as a stripper. Isabel meets a couple who is eloping, helps the bride, and is asked to be the maid of honor, accompanied by the handsome best man.

Turns out Michael was cheating at craps, using his powers. Although Max warns him of the suspicious pit boss, Michael will not avoid confrontation. Both Michael and Max end up in jail, calling Maria to bail them out. While in jail, Michael and Max argue about leadership, responsibility, and mostly their friendship. When they return to the suite, Max decides to leave, to go back to Roswell. He says good-bye to Liz at the video arcade. On his way out, he sees a bride and groom in a cab, and is flashed a vision of Liz with him as the happy bride and he the groom.

Maria arranges a fancy night out to dinner. Just as she starts complaining about him, Michael, who has been the usual bad boyfriend, ignoring Maria most of the time, surprises her with an introduction from the ballroom stage to sing for the nightclub crowd. As Maria fulfills her on-stage singing fantasy, Kyle and Tess dance, Isabel and Alex dance, and Max returns and he and Liz dance. Max tells Liz of his "married" vision.

When they return to their suite, Sheriff Valenti is waiting. He found out they were all missing, and was worried. They all get a stern lecture and are told to go back to Roswell, ending the fun.

Max and Michael make amends, as they spend the last of the $50,000 DuPree money on coffee. Max tells him he feels responsible for the four and shares, "Without you, I'd be lost, Michael." Michael replies "Whoever sent us down here was smart...because they sent us together. As long as we stick together, we're going to make it."

Episode 38 - Heart Of Mine
Aired: April 16th, 2001

Episode Synopsis:
Maria gives us a prologue warning that this is really a disastrous time in Roswell...PROM.

Liz begins the episode by writing in her journal that she has realized something really deep with the help of Sean...Liz and Sean are together in his old VW Beetle, with Sean sweet talking Liz. She says goodnight, and Sean kisses her. Liz looks a little bewildered. The next day, when Liz tells Maria about Sean's kiss, she says she feels guilty about Max.

Michael tells Maria he won't take her to the prom. The discussion turns into a "we're seeing other people" tiff.

Liz tempts fate and hints at Max about the prom. They decide to go together. He tells Liz he's starting to remember things about his life on his home planet. Liz asks if he remembers people...Michael...Isabel? Max says he remembers their energies, not really faces. "And Tess?" Liz asks. "Yes" says Max. Liz looks away.

The next morning, Liz misses her bus and meets up with Sean driving by. He gives her a ride to school, and apologizes for the kiss.

Isabel drops hints to Alex to take her to the prom. He refuses, preferring not to be hurt and lovesick over her again. Later, she tells Alex she'll be graduating early, and this is her only chance to attend a prom. Alex asks her to go with him.

Kyle asks Tess to the prom, she accepts.

Suspicious that Michael is seeing someone else after he blew her off for the evening, Maria gets Liz to go with her to break into Michael's apartment to find evidence of another girlfriend. Maria finds an impression of Juanita's address. They go there and peep with binoculars, seeing Michael with the girl through the window.

Tess continues to work with Max to help him remember life on his planet. He connects with a memory through Tess. Delighted, Max hugs Tess. Liz sees them through he window, after being prompted by the scorned, heartbroken Maria to spy.

As Liz leaves, she meets up with Sean again. They go to the bowling alley. Sean observes that they are both suffocating. He from the scrutiny of the town, she from her unfulfilled feelings of Max.

Everyone meets at Crashdown on prom night. Max and Liz both light up at the sight of each other. Maria's mom gathers everyone for a photo, and asks Sean to snap it. Liz tells her journal she had a strange feeling that was the last time they'd all be together.

At the prom, Isabel thanks Alex with kisses. Kyle defends Tess over rude comments, then realizes she is like a sister to him. Kyle tells Tess they could never have a romance. As they slow dance, Liz tells Max she saw him with Tess. Liz says she feels paralyzed by the fact that Tess and Max were married in their former lives. She suggests they "let go," that she's been "suffocating." Liz joins Maria, who came to the prom without a date. Then Michael shows up in a tux. Turns out Juanita was his dance teacher, instructing him so he could dance with Maria at the prom.

Tess and Max have a moment alone. She sees his sadness. Max explains that its really over with Liz. Then he tells Tess he remembers the first time he kissed Tess in their former lives. They kiss. Liz sees them, tosses her corsage, and runs out, to the bowling alley to meet Sean.

Liz ends by writing in her journal, "At least my heart is open...and I'm writing again...I'm feeling...I'm breathing."

Episode 39 - Cry Your Name
Aired: April 23rd, 2001

Episode Synopsis:
During a phone conversation between Alex and Isabel, Liz and Maria coach Alex to have the upper hand emotionally in his new relationship with Isabel. When the girls leave his home, Alex receives a food delivery. When he pays the delivery guy, Alex seems down and makes some depressing remarks to the delivery guy. Alex sits down at his desk and looks at the summer photo of he and his girlfriend from Sweden.

Sheriff Valenti comes upon a traffic accident scene. Car vs. semi. There is a fatality.

Everyone is gathered at the Crashdown. Sheriff Valenti arrives and tells them of the accident, breaks the news that Alex is dead.

Sheriff and the gang watch as the coroner brings Alex's body. Max slips into the back of the hearse, and tries to revive Alex, but can't bring him back.

Everyone tries to deal with the shock of their loss of Alex. Isabel dreams that Alex is alive and visits her at the Crashdown. The next morning, Isabel talks to her mom, blaming herself for Alex's death, since she had called him to meet her. Sheriff Valenti tries to console Kyle in his sadness. It's Kyle's birthday. Michael comforts Maria at her home.

Max calls Liz's house and speaks to her mom. Liz isn't home, she's gone off to be alone. Liz has gone to the junkyard to examine Alex's car. Inside the wreck, Liz finds the photo of Alex and his girlfriend in Sweden. But Alex's face has been cutout of the photo.

Sheriff Valenti and the deputy question the semi driver at the hospital. The driver says Alex deliberately swerved in front of him, causing the accident. Sheriff Valenti questions the food delivery guy, who tells him about Alex's apparent depression on the day he died. The deputy questions his teachers who say there were signs of moodiness in Alex.

Liz shows Maria and Michael the photo she found. Gathered at the school's football field, other students create a makeshift memorial to Alex. Liz overhears the food delivery guy telling other students about Alex's depression on the day of the delivery. She confronts him. If he remembers anything else, he is to find her at the Crashdown. Isabel announces she's graduating early and leaving in June for college in San Francisco.

Liz takes the photo she found in Alex's wrecked car to Sheriff Valenti. He won't share his theories on Alex's death. As she presses for information, Sheriff Valenti tells her the theory that Alex deliberately killed himself. Liz doesn't want to believe it. Upset, she goes to see Max. Liz doesn't want Alex's memory to be of a suicide. Later in the kitchen, Liz has calmed down, and she and Max share good memories of Alex. When the prom is mentioned, Liz tells Max she saw him kissing Tess...that she's all right with it. She asks that he always be her friend, and goes home.

Back at Maria's house, Ms. De Luca thanks Michael for his attention to her family. She's happy to know her daughter is loved. She tells Michael he's always welcome at their home.

Isabel is dreaming again of Alex. He tells her not to blame herself for his death. They kiss and he says good-bye. She says she loves him. As he goes to the door, he says that he loved her too.

Max, Michael, and Kyle are pallbearers for Alex's funeral. Maria sings "Amazing Grace" at the burial site, as each place a red rose on the casket. After the ceremony, Max angrily confronts Sheriff Valenti about his theories of Alex's suicide. Sheriff gives Max the investigation file to read.

At the Whitman house, Liz goes off alone and sits in Alex's room. She talks aloud to Alex, asking for help to find that what they're saying about his death is untrue. Suddenly she is drawn to Alex's book of Robert Frost poetry. She reads the marked page, and also finds two concert tickets.

Liz calls the gang together to share her theory, asking the question, why would Alex buy two concert tickets for he and Isabel for the night after he died, if he wasn't planning on a future? Liz believes Alex was murdered, by someone with a grudge...or maybe an alien. This accusation upsets the four, and they all leave. Liz is determined to find the truth.

At the Crashdown, Liz looks through photos of Alex and everyone together. She cries. The food delivery guy shows up, knocking at the door. He brings the credit card receipt that Alex signed on the day of his death. It was rejected because of the way it was signed. Liz sees the signature line has a binary code series of zeroes and ones. The delivery guy asks what it means. She says is means "I have promises to keep and miles to go before I sleep." This is a line from the Robert Frost poem that was marked in Alex's book, "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening."

Episode 40 - It's Too Late, And It's Too Bad
Aired: April 30th, 2001

Episode Synopsis:
Liz is determined to find the truth behind Alex's death, unconvinced that it was an accident. As she investigates, she becomes suspicious of the Olsen's and Leanna, Alex's host family and summer love from the exchange program. There's the flowers from the Olsen's offering condolences, although Alex's father did not call them about Alex's death. There's the locked file on Alex's laptop, which holds a repetitive message "Leanna is not Leanna." Although she can't decipher the binary message of zeroes and ones that Alex signed the credit card receipt with on the night of his death, Liz suspects the 20 characters to again repeat the message "Leanna is not Leanna." Liz tries to track down the Olsen's through their phone number, which is incorrect. The flower shop owner won't give out information. And finally she inquires with the Swedish Embassy, trying to trace a location from a photo of Leanna and Alex in front of a steel and glass building.

No one gives Liz's suspicions credibility, except Isabel. Max warns Liz to stop the investigation, saying it endangers the aliens by arousing suspicions. Liz risks Sean's parole be convincing him to help her break into the school, so she can retrieve info on the Olsen's from Alex's files. Michael asks Maria to have Liz stop pursuing the investigation, warning of the dangers in it. Even Maria believes Liz's behavior is a symptom of her grief at the loss of Alex. Maria tells Liz her obsession is ruining everyone's life, even risking Sean after they were caught breaking into the school.

Tensions rise then soften between Maria and Michael. Maria breaks down, telling Michael she knows she'll lose him, and her heart can't take it. After a roundabout conversation about the here and now with Ms. DeLuca, Michael reassures Maria. He tells Maria that although he'll someday leave, he can give her here and now. His reassurances bring them closer together again.

Meanwhile, Max feels isolated. Isabel's plans to go to San Francisco to college are problematic. Max knows the four can't be separated. When all reasoning won't work, Max threatens Isabel, saying he'll do everything he can to keep her in Roswell. Infuriated, she accepts this, but says she will no longer follow him. Then Max catches Liz waiting for a cab to take her to the airport to go to Sweden. Unable to get her information, Liz plans to pursue the mystery in Europe. Max tries to force her not to go. Despite his comment that if she goes, their friendship is over, she jumps in the cab and leaves. Max admits to Tess that he is afraid to go home, back to their planet. Earth seems more real to him. At the observatory, Tess points out a star that can also be seen from their planet. Their planet is reality, Tess says, "Earth is a dream." Max is depressed at losing those close to him one by one. Tess assures Max that she'll be there "for eternity." They kiss. Max says "I'm ready to wake up now." Tess and Max make love under the stars.

Across town, Liz rushes to board the plane to begin her journey to Sweden. Just as she is ready to board, she gets a return phone call from the Swedish Embassy. The building in the photo of Alex and Leanna that she had questions about was demolished years earlier. Now Liz believes Alex never went to Sweden.

Episode 41 - Baby, It's You
Aired: May 7th, 2001

Episode Synopsis:
The morning after their night of passion, Tess looks completely in love. Max looks a little worried. Max takes Tess home, and Kyle sees them coming in, knows they were together. Alone in her room, Tess immediately realizes she's pregnant.

Troubled, Max wants to talk to Isabel. She's aloof, but gives him a minute. He tells Isabel he slept with Tess, and he feels weird about it. Isabel, still angry about their college fight, walks out and doesn't want to hear anymore about it. Later that night when they are alone, Tess tells Max she's pregnant.

Kyle tries to get Isabel to loosen up and have some fun. It turns into an "alien joy ride," as Kyle offers mischievous ideas to Isabel to use her powers to get back at Max.

Still on her quest for the truth about Alex's death, Liz asks Maria for help. Maria has one of the computer nerds track the origin of an e-mail Alex sent her over the summer. It turns out the e-mail was sent from the university at Las Cruces, New Mexico, not Sweden. Maria and Liz want to go investigate. Michael persuades Maria to tell him where they're going. Maria confesses, and Michael swears he won't tell Max.

Max tells Michael about his night of sex with Tess...and a "complication." Michael guesses he got Tess pregnant. The term of the alien pregnancy is only one month. Michael points out his concern and how this pregnancy effects and endangers all of them.

At the university, Liz and Maria meet a student. He tells them "Ray" (Alex) stayed in his dorm room, never left, just ordering in Thai food. Alex was apparently snooping around the university's supercomputer. That evening, Liz and Maria pop into a campus concert by singer Nelly Furtado. In the crowd, they spot "Leanna," the girl from Alex's photos from Sweden. She runs and leaves on a bus before they can reach her. Just then, Michael shows up. He wants to know everything. Liz finds out that Alex was trying to decode the the alien language with the university's supercomputer. He deleted the final data, but before doing so, he e-mailed it to Jennifer ("Leanna"), jcoleman, the blonde they saw at the campus concert. Liz, Maria, and Michael go to Jennifer's ("Leanna's") room to search for clues. They find a bill on a rental property, and go there. At the abandoned building (the rental property), they find a laptop, guarded by a rotating red pyramid. Michael realizes its a bomb, and throws it outside just before it explodes. In the laptop, they find the translation of the alien book that Alex decoded. They print it out, and also find a crystal.

Max and Tess visit the cave, the sight of their beginnings on earth. Tess has decided she will have the baby. Suddenly, her stomach glows with the imprint of a tiny hand. Max puts his hand over the glowing hand print, then tells Tess he saw the baby...it's a boy.

Later, at the house, Max talks to Tess about getting an apartment of their own, for when the baby comes. Tess says she always felt they'd go back to their home planet. In the kitchen, Tess falls, saying its the baby, something's wrong. Max holds his healing hand towards Tess, and discovers the atmosphere is poisoning their unborn baby. Max feels he's letting Tess down, because he doesn't know what to do, or how to read the alien book to find the answers. Outside the house, he freaks out in anger, and starts throwing things. Isabel finds him, and he breaks down and tells her everything.

Isabel comforts and calms Max with a good memory from their childhood. Then she apologizes, and they make up. She gives Max hope that they'll figure something out. Michael finds them, bringing the translation of the book. The translation reveals the way back to their planet. "We can go home," Max says.

Episode 42 - Off The Menu
Aired: May 14th, 2001

Episode Synopsis:
Max is still at work at the UFO Center, as Brody begins his "abduction simulator" program, attached to his virtual reality headgear. Brody gets zapped with electricity as the power goes out.

Tess visits Max at the UFO Center, bringing a gift. She tells Max there's a power outage all over town. As Max turns on the center's emergency power, Brody confronts them waving a gun, wanting to know the truth.

Brody's mind is confused from too many abductions. As Ms. DeLuca, Maria and Sean arrive, Brody now has hostages. Alien powers are useless against Brody, who has activated an alien pyramid device to protect himself. Michael and Isabel escape Brody, getting help from Jim Valenti. Jim calls Brody, asking his demands. Brody wants food for everyone. Liz makes the delivery, outfitted with a tiny video camera on her jacket, so Mr. Valenti, Isabel, Michael and Kyle can monitor what's happening inside. Brody holds Liz hostage also.

Fearing there is a hostage situation in progress, Sheriff Hansen (Jim's former deputy) and the state police prepare to storm the UFO Center. Isabel and Michael attempt to open the UFO Center via another emergency exit door.

Meanwhile, back inside, Max tells Brody the truth and almost gets the gun away from him. Suddenly, Brody sees the camera on Liz's jacket and freaks, waving the gun in her face, threatening her life.

Relying on the power of their past friendship and trust, Maria tries to talk to Brody. He can't remember anything of his own life. Maria convinces Brody to deactivate the pyramid device, so Max can heal his brain, giving him his memories back.

The aliens protect themselves and Brody from the police. Sean is talked into a cover-up by Liz's promise of a date. Tess wipes away Ms. DeLuca's memory of the hostage situation. Once the police storm in, it seems just as if everyone was trapped inside by the power outage, and the police don't have a clue of what really happened.

The next night, Max goes to Tess, awakening her. He tells her of flashes of memories of her as he healed Brody.
